Established in Perth in 1995, the Pak Mei Yaolin Kung Fu Association's Dragon & Lion Dance team is among Perth's most internationally accomplished and currently active troupes. The name 'Yaolin' — meaning 'Friends United' in Cantonese — reflects the troupe's community philosophy. Rooted in the Pak Mei (White Eyebrow) martial arts lineage, the association maintains affiliations with major lion dance federations in Hong Kong and Malaysia. In 2017, the team won first place in the Western Division at the 6th International Dragon & Lion Dance Championship in Shanghai, described as the Olympics of the art form. As of 2026 Chinese New Year, Yaolin was the most widely booked troupe across Perth's public CNY events.
