Based in Balcatta since 1995, the Chinese Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy was founded by Sifu George Michielsen and has grown into one of Perth's most prominent martial arts and cultural performance academies. The lion dance team comprises both professional martial artists and students trained in Choy Lay Fut Buk Sing — a Southern Chinese style combining internal power with versatile techniques. The team performs with traditional imported lion costumes from China and offers a comprehensive range of complementary entertainment including Chinese firecrackers, kung fu weaponry displays, and Tai Chi demonstrations. With a client list spanning major corporations, universities, shopping centres, and private events, the academy is one of the most commercially active lion dance providers in WA.
